It is very difficult for me to explain to my 8-year old daughter how men can marry men, or why women want to marry women. Now that we have legal recognition of same-sex marriage, Democrats want to compel us to teach our children in school about these alternative lifestyles. I don't begrudge gay couples the right to cohabit, lead their lives without government interference, or rights as citizens to apply for property tax deductions. We all have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. However, a vocal liberal minority has seized this issue to force a silent majority to accept their lifestyle choices, and now want us to promote them in public schools. LGBT, like religion, does not belong in our public schools and I will fight to keep compulsory education programs out of the 5th district.
Every man, every woman who has to take up the service of government, must ask themselves two questions: 'Do I love my people in order to serve them better? Am I humble and do I listen to everybody, to diverse opinions in order to choose the best path?' If you don't ask those questions, your governance will not be good. -Pope Francis
