Let me start by saying that I am a hunter, shooter, I believe in the Second Amendment and I support the NRA. In the past I have taken target practice at Candy Rock. This changed after I visited a friend who lives across the canyon from Candy Rock. I couldn't believe how loud the gun shots were at that house. I was embarrassed about my ignorance. Since then, I have not used Candy Rock for shooting practice. We in the "gun community" have an obligation to exercise extreme curtesy while enjoying our sport. Shooting at Candy Rock is not considerate to the folks who live in Canyon View Estates. I still target practice in the National Forest. There are many places that offer safety and privacy. Taking the extra time to find a suitable place to shoot is a small price to pay to avoid offending anyone. I am certain that this viewpoint will anger some and please others. If my view offends you, I would be happy to discuss the issue. If you wish to discuss this with me, please send me an e-mail at email@example.com or post a question on this web site.
I was born in Santa Cruz, CA in 1957. My family moved to Arnold when I was in the fourth grade. I attended Hazel Fischer Elementary, Bret Harte High School, and Delta College. I transferred to Cal Poly,San Luis Obispo where I graduated with honors in 1979 with a Bachelor's in Forest Resources.
